Combined Degree OptionsThe MDiv and MPS degree programs are designed so that the first year of study of each is similar.After the first year of study, a student may transfer from one program to another.It is possible to earn both the MDiv and MPS degrees within 4 years of study. A person who has the MDiv degree or its equivalent from an institution of approved standing may obtain the MPS by completing 10 additional credits. A person holding the MPS may obtain the MDiv by completing 16 further credits, with 2 sessions of the combined program spent as a full-time student.
This conjoint certificate, offered as part of the Master of Pastoral Studies, is designed to equip students to apply to professional bodies for membership, typically with a view to vocations as spiritual care therapists in hospitals, correctional institutions, churches, family therapy practices, private practices, counselling services, palliative care hospices, schools, developmental disability facilities, or the military.
The diploma is awarded by Emmanuel College, and is considered a non-conjoint program.
All diploma courses are available as electives for students in any of our Basic Degree programs (MDiv, MPS and MTS).

Would you like to provide a ministry of presence and offer spiritual teaching programs, including officiating at special functions, religious services and ceremonies?
If so, consider Chaplaincy with the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF). Emmanuel College’s Master of Divinity and Master of Pastoral Studies programs can qualify you for the Chaplaincy stream in the Canadian Armed Forces.
Chaplains are responsible for fostering the religious and spiritual care of the CAF members and their families. Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Sikhs and chaplains of other faith backgrounds work for the CAF. The CAF also offers financial support to help with your studies.
