Dr. Loubani’s keynote will be focused on the difficulties of delivering medial aid in Gaza - with a particular focus on the shortage of medical supplies, hospital space, and the dangers of being a field medic in Gaza. He will reflect on his time as a doctor there in May 2018, where he was shot in the leg while attempting to deliver heath care. During this time, Dr. Loubani experienced not only the situation of medical scarcity as a doctor, but also as a patient, who was discharged due to lack of space and the high number of casualties. He will discuss the day-to- day impacts of the blockade on those who are sick and injured, and focus on how a lack of electricity and power in the Gaza Strip jeopardizes the lives of those who live there. Dr. Loubani will also discuss the daily challenges faced by the Al Ahli Arab Hospital, and their plans to overcome power shortages through a solar panel project.
