Teaching & Research Interests

Fred Kimball Graham is well-known across Canada in The United Church of Canada for his interest in, and leadership of songs of faith. His previous position at the Worship Desk of the General Council involved both preparation of major print resources, such as the hymnal Voices United, and the frequent presentation of workshops in congregations related to their worship and music life.

After undergraduate training in Music Education, Graham’s graduate studies were in Organ Performance at the Eastman School of Music (Rochester) and in Liturgical Theology at Drew University (Madison, NJ). He has held numerous positions as music minister in United Churches, as well as that of the Anglican Cathedral Organist in Halifax, NS.

He recently concluded a six-year term as Chairperson of the Consultation on Common Texts, and is conducting further research on the Revised Common Lectionary. He served as the President of Southern Ontario Chapter of the Hymn Society from 2007 to 2010. Graham is a co-recipient of the 2011 Davidson Trust Award for excellence in teaching.

As a volunteer, Fred Graham is active in a local United Church congregation, and is an advocate for Organ Donation Awareness.
