Emmanuel College receives grant for interfaith course

Emmanuel College has received a grant of $5000 from the Center for the Study of Jewish-Christian-Muslim Relations at Merrimack College, to fund the teaching of an interfaith course entitled “Intertwined Texts: Bible and Quran in Dialogue,” taught by Dr. Nevin Reda, Assistant Professor of Muslim Studies.

The course will explore narratives shared between the Bible and the Quran and how major Muslim, Christian, and Jewish scholars have approached the relationship between the texts across the ages.

Offered in Winter 2014, the course will enhance Emmanuel’s commitment to interfaith dialogue through providing students with an opportunity to study both the Bible and the Quran side by side with people of different faith, and by looking at scholars who themselves have engaged in intertextual study and analysis.
