Intra-Faith Panel on Muslim Perspectives on Social Justice
A recent intra-faith panel on Muslim perspectives on social justice was hosted by Emmanuel College on Thursday, April 3, 2014. Imam Badat of the Islamic Foundation, Dr Liyakat Takim from McMaster University and Dr Mir Baiz Khan from the Ismaili Tariqah and Religious Eduation Board for Canada, shared the Sunni, Shia Ithna Ashari, and Shia Ismaili views, revealing a significant overlap in understanding what social justice means, its fundamental importance to the Qur'anic worldview and the need of Muslims to work for it in this society. The session was moderated by Imam Habeeb Alli, currently executive director of the Islamic Development and Relief Foundation.
