A significant number of students at Emmanuel College are commuter students who travel to our downtown Toronto campus from across Ontario and Quebec. We do our best to identify and support the unique needs that commuting students encounter.
Commuter Student Supports at a Glance
Condensed Course Scheduling
Emmanuel schedules courses on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday during the fall and winter sessions which allows students to cluster their courses together. Therefore a full-time commuter student may only need to be on-campus for 2-3 days a week instead of six. Since Emmanuel students are allowed to take any of their electives at the other schools at the Toronto School of Theology this enhances their scheduling flexibility. The summer session allows students to take intensive courses.
Accessible Location
Emmanuel College is easily accessible by public transportation for locals and commuters who travel by TTC, Greyhound, Via Rail and Go Transit. Many commuting students also carpool together!
Student Parking
Parking is indoors and right in the middle of our campus. Cost is $13/daytime, $10/evening. Student term parking rates are available through the Margaret Addison Residence Front Desk.
Student Lounge
The Emmanuel College Student Lounge provides a comfortable environment to relax, study and mingle with other students. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and relax on the couch!
Locker Storage
Emmanuel College is equipped with lockers for student use for $20 for the 8-month academic year. So store your coat, boots or books while you need to.
Short-Term Accommodation
Commuter students who need to stay one or two nights a week find short-term accommodation by renting a room at Burwash Bed and Breakfast on our campus or close by with local families.
